How to read a listing

Three grades. That’s the whole system.

Most of the floor is Article, with a few other makers mixed in. Some pieces were only opened. A few were sat on. The grade is the difference, and the price follows it.

New in box

Sealed returns and unused company stock.

Factory packaging, or boxed again after a check. Never lived with. Legs and hardware are in the carton. This is a return from the company or leftover new stock — not a used piece.

Grade A

Open box. Not used.

Unboxed or assembled so we could inspect it. No daily sitting, no stains, no pet hair. If there is a freight scuff, it is written on the listing. Priced under what the same model costs new.

Grade B

Open box. Slightly used.

Sat on, staged, or lived with briefly. Clean and structurally sound. Wear is cosmetic — a softened cushion, a small rub — and we say so. No rips, no broken frames.

  • We do not call a piece new if the box was opened and someone lived with it.
  • Grade A can have a freight scuff. If it does, the listing says where.
  • Grade B is clean. If there is a stain, a tear, or a broken leg, it is not on this floor.
  • The crossed-out price on each listing is what that model lists for new.
